Tighter Than Dick's Hatband

An old southern idiom. Could be used to identify a place that is empty, a person who is wound up, or any number of situations where the word "tight" is used. Nobody seems to know who Dick was. Apparently he had a tough time keeping his hat on his head.
I went and checked that place you told me about. They've closed up tighter than dick's hatband. Have been for years.

Tighter than Dick's Hatband

Refers to Dick Tracy's Hat. He could jump out of a plane and his hat wouldn't move.
That lid is tighter than Dick's hatband

Tighter Than Dick's Hatband

"Tighter than dick's hatband" should be "tighter than a dick's hatband" and could be written as "tighter than a detective's hatband". A phrase referring to the band on their hat and has nothing to do with the male anatomy. I believe this is a Prohibition Era phrase.
It fit tighter than dick's hatband. This should be "It fit tighter than a dick's hatband".

tighter than dick's hatband

A lot of people don't seem to know what dicks hatband is. It actually refers to a male penis, the hat being a condom and the the band ofcourse being the rubber band at the base of the condom.
Bro, she not gonna let you hit. She keeps that shit tighter than dick's hatband.

tight as dick's hat band

When something is very close fitting. Also can mean when someone is a cheapskate.

Also can be a play on words. Dick is a man's name and he wears a hat that is too tight....but it can also refer to the male genitalia and the foreskin around the head.
"Man, that dress she had on was tight as dick's hat band!"

"I will never date Johnny again. He is too cheap! Tight as dick's hat band."

Texas is categorized as a swing state in presidential elections, but has voted for Republicans more times than for Democrats in recent history. As such, as demographics change political alignments, some Democrats believe that Texas will vote blue, or Democratic, due to their Hispanic and African American voters, who often align themselves with the Democratic Party's liberal wing.

Blexas has been cited as possible in the upcoming decades, but only if Democrats continue to win the Hispanic vote in bigger margins.
Democrat 1: What is your prediction for the 2024 presidential election?
Democrat 2: Well uh, Blexas!
Democrat 1: You've been saying that since 2008 though.

Brought to public attention by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein in the book on the fall of Richard Nixon, All The President’s Men, ratfucker was Nixon’s term for a political operative who sows chaos among opponents; an agent provocateur. It is thought to have originated among campus political rivalries at USC, and seems to have some usage in the US military.
Along with Nixon’s other ratfuckers, Roger Stone caused fights at otherwise peaceful Democratic Party protests to generate a false narrative that the Democrats were violent and dangerous.
