A teenager with all the right answers to everything delivered in the style of an utter arsehole.
Here comes the correctum, any second now he will say "Stop saying amount, it's number, you plebeian."

Words you can keep

Correctum

When you get a right answer by pulling the answer out of your ass.
I had no idea what the answer was so I made a wild-assed guess and it was right . . . Correctum!

Corrector

That one person who has to correct everybody on their grammar, spelling, pronunciation of words or any trivial fact that may be off by 1%. We all know and have this person in our lives.
As Jerry was telling us about tomorrow's weather forecast, the Corrector said it called for rain 25% not 20% as Jerry stated earlier.

Polignorant correctness

1. Espousing, supporting, defending, or professing as good any matter of action ideology religion or belief which you know nothing about in order to appear intelligent, informed, humane, noble, or prestigious.

2. The action of righteously stating one’s position on a matter without sufficient research or knowledge to be responsibly making such statements.

3. The habit of irresponsibly making claims on a debatable issue without the work of educating oneself beforehand; the goal is to look good in the eyes of others.

4. Dishonestly speaking as if knowledgeable about an issue with a firm public statement of opinion. It has the effect of disserving the public discourse on an issue by disregarding verifiable facts.

5. Posing as informed on a topic in order to get others to admire you.

Polignorant correctness scenarios:
Stating at a dinner party, "Global warming is a myth!" without checking the science behind the claims of the scientists. The speaker gives the impression that they have a wealth of knowledge on the subject.

Commentator on a news channel saying, "Islam is a peaceful religion" without researching the scriptural basis for the Islamic terrorist actions that just occurred. The commentator gets to appear understanding and humane without any research required.

Professing "All cultures and societies are equal in merit and achievment" as if one had extensively studied and found that to be the case. The speaker looks understanding and vastly educated.

Correct Answer Algorithm

(kə-rekt’ - æn’sɜ:ʳ - æl’gə-rɪð’əm)
n.

A step-by-step problem-solving procedure, especially an established, computational procedure to transmogrify incorrect answers into answers found in the back of textbooks.

X = Fғ ∙ Xᴜ + Cғ

where
Fғ = Fudge Factor,
Xᴜ = the undesired answer,
Cғ = Finagle’s Constant

The Fudge Factor is simply the number, 0, and Finagle’s Constant is the answer in the back of the book (or any other answer that might be preferred instead of the current answer.)
Let’s take this baby out for a spin & see how it works...

Suppose you’ve been asked to solve

    eˣ ⁺ ³ = 5

which requires the use of a natural logarithm which you don’t know how to do because you spent your time in your high school math class doing EHAP homework & texting your friends who are now sitting in the same junior college remedial math class you are.

Since you have no chance of using the $200 TI-89 that mommy & daddy bought you to actually solve this equation, you instead use it like a $10 TI-15 & find a brute force, guess-and-check, decimal solution of x = -1.39 . Whew!

You look in the back of the book & see the answer is “-3 + ln 5”. Dang! You’re screwed because this teacher means business & only accepts answers showing all work & matching the answer in the back of the book.

Not so fast… now’s the time to pull out the *Correct Answer Algorithm*…

X = Fғ ∙ Xᴜ + Cғ

Fғ = Fudge Factor = 0
Xᴜ = the undesired answer = -1.39
Cғ = Finagle’s Constant = -3 + ln 5

X = Fғ ∙ Xᴜ + Cғ

= (0) ∙ (-1.39) + (-3 + ln 5)

= 0 + (-3 + ln 5)

= -3 + ln 5

Voilà! A "solution" showing "work" that produces the correct answer!

While this transmogrification works 100% of the time, you do run the risk of pushing your teacher to the point of mumbling stuff like "Well, even if you did show all your work, it isn't the 'Correct' work", "Only three years till retirement", or correctly identifying you as an incorrigible smart ass.

Over Correct

After ending a relationship with someone, you start looking for a partner who is completely opposite to your previous one.
Dude, after that break up with Jenny, I think I finally found the right girl for me!

Don't be stupid, you're just over correcting

Back when I lived in upstate new york

A meaningless, unimpressive, self-serving introduction. An indicator that the story about to be shared will be pointless and dumb.
Back when I lived in upstate new york, I also had to park on the street - on two occasions, we got enough snow, mixed with just the right plowing, that my car was lifted off the ground from so much snow being jammed underneath it.
