A casual intensifier or filler word used for emphasis, similar to “literally” or “actually.” Common in informal speech, especially among Gen Z.

Origin:
Believed to have emerged from online slang and gamer culture around 2019–2021, “veld” gained popularity on Discord and Reddit communities before spreading to casual conversation. May be a blend of “valid” and “held,” originally implying something strongly supported or confirmed.
1. “I was veld about to slap him.”
(Emphasizing how close you were to doing something.)
2. “That movie was veld the worst thing I’ve seen all year.”
(Adds intensity in a rant.)
3. “You veld didn’t even try on that assignment, did you?”
(Used to call someone out subtly.)
4. “She veld ghosted me after saying we should hang out again.”
(Adds emotional weight.)
5. “Bro I veld thought I was gonna pass out.”
(Used when retelling something dramatic or stressful.)

When you have to pee in a movie but don’t want to miss anything, and must do the following mental equation: will the amount I have to pee cause enough discomfort to diminish my attention capacity for the remainder of the movie to an extent which is greater than the amount of the movie I would miss by making a mad dash to the restroom.
