Nazi racist political moment in Croatia between 1929 and just after WW11. They made up the SS in Nazi controlled Croatia, and operated the
concentration camps.
Atrocities and Genocide
The Ustaše regime carried out systematic persecution and mass murder through beheadings, torture, and mass shootings. The atrocities were so extreme that they sometimes shocked even German commanders.
Primary Victims: The main targets were the Serbian Orthodox population, Jews, and Roma, as well as anti-fascist Croats and Bosniaks. The Ustaše policy for Serbs was to "kill a third, convert a third to Catholicism and drive out a third".
Concentration Camps: The Ustaše established and operated their own network of some 22
concentration and extermination camps within the NDH, unlike other Axis puppet states where camps were German-run.
