Reichenbach Fall

The worst thing to ever happen to the Sherlock BBC fandom.
The buildup to "The Reichenbach Fall" has left many a Sherlockian deeply distraught.

reticide

• Reticide is the subtle and systematic annihilation of a mass group of people, usually not through direct violence, but through less overt means. Examples include propaganda encouraging the group not to reproduce, systematic pressure intended to encourage racial suicide, and institutional campaigns intended to stifle discussion or recognition of the killing through controlling of platforms of speech.

• Combines Reti-, which is Latin for “restrained silence” and -Cide, which is Latin for “kill”.
The whites of South Africa are being reticided out of existence, and already people are denying it.

reticulating splines

Nonsense technobabble used in a production context.

Reticulating splines started off as an in-joke at Maxis and grew to fame with the widespread popularity of The Sims. While it does have a "real" meaning, this definition isn't actually correct in the context of its use. It's really a programming joke.

Reticulating splines is essentially filler. Don't want to describe what's holding up the program? It's reticulating splines. Why isn't the Internet working? The splines aren't reticulated. Heck, don't want to explain your calculus assignment? We're reticulating splines this week.

Sorry the video took so long to upload. Reticulating splines took hours!

Reichenbach

Feelings of intense dark emotion. Usually dealing with grief, sadness, abandonment, uncertainty and occasionally anger.

Similar term: "gutted"

Derived from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes Series, specifically it is the location of Sherlock's apparent death in "The Final Problem"
"I had a one way ticket to Reichenbach after seeing that film."

"Waiting for my acceptance letter is like reichenbach."
"I was reichenbached."

Reichenbach

1. An awful day for the Sherlock fandom.
2. A cause for great merriment and amusement for people that like to mock the Sherlock fandom.
1. The whole Sherlock fandom suffered a great loss at the end of Reichenbach.
2. My sister couldn't stop laughing at me during Reichenbach because I was crying.

Religious-Reich

RELIGIOUS-REICH was a term coined on "ChristmasIsAlie.com" to refer to"Christian-fascism" ideology which became present in American Evangelical circles during the Bush administration, documented in a book by War correspondent, Chris Hedges, "Christian Fascism and the War on America", as a result of Fox News indoctrination of conservative Audiences unknowingly being trained with World War II, Nazi political ideology and propaganda within a previously "Conservative-Religious" framework.
He used to be a "Religious-Conservative" but now he's part of the "Religious-Reich". He defends torture, wants to over-throw the U.S. government for a "Christian-Nation", and thinks "Religious Freedom" is actually something evil that must be destroyed.

God Shot

A chance happening with profound meaning, an unexpected blessing, a "sign".
Dr. Drew on Celebrity Rehab said "All of a sudden what had been just another Hollywood proposal became for him an unexpected blessing, an opportunity for growth. In drug recovery language, that's called a "God shot."

city chicken

A food native to Pittsburgh/Western Pennsylvania in which cubes of pork and/or veal are put on a short, wooden skewer, breaded, then baked and/or fried.

I've heard that city chicken originated during the Great Depression, when folks didn't have enough money to buy full cuts of meat, so they assembled meat scraps on a wooden skewer, creating a make-shift drumstick. Hence the name.
