In the British Army, a platoon is led by a lieutenant or second lieutenant.
It's the same in the Canadian Forces and the U.S. Army.

One platoon wonder 

the most knowledgeable part of a NAVY S.E.A.L.s career the moment he returns from his first deployment when he now knows everything about being a S.E.A.L. and needs zero fucking guidance from anybody at all regardless of their rank or experience level.

Thank god we got so many fucking one platoon wonders. telling us what we do. it is just impossible to think how we ever fought the war without them.
