(
n.) A large posterior belonging to a woman (esp. African-American),
see also: Badonkadonk
Etymology: The term was used in African American Vernacular English (AAVE) since the 1990s. In the 1990s, a new species of whale (
Rice's whale) was discovered of the coast of Louisiana, and need reports included references to a large posterior "peduncle" hump. The term "peduncle-
butt" was adopted by the African-American community to refer to a woman with "an
ass like a whale". It transformed into the onomatopoeiac "badonkadonk" by those unfamiliar with its origin. The new word was popularized by Keith Murray's song "Fatty
Girl" (2001), and later Trace Adkins, "Honkey Tonk Badunkadunk".
