An old object, e.g. a car, an instrument, a device, etc. which is still operational and reliable.

Jimmy's old reliable was his 1969 Ford Mustang, which he restored from his grandfather after gaining ownership of it.

1)That one boy/girl you can always call when you're in the mood for sex.

2)The same old tactic that's been serving a sports team well.

3)That one show which always ranks high on the seasonal Nielsen rankings.

1) Person A: Damn, being single is a bitch. It's been too long ago since I got laid....your single too, how do you cope?

Person B: Ha, well I don't have problems in that department! I can always depend on my old reliable in such situations.

2) The Hack-A-Shaq: probably the most used tactic against Shaquille O'Neal, though it's still quite useful after all these years.

3) ER for NBC(well they used to be), 60 Minutes for CBS, Dancing with the Stars for ABC.....all shows who'll surely draw millions of viewers every year.
