A slur commonly used by Italians and Italian-Americans to denote a person of color. Melanzane in Italian means "Eggplant", which itself is used as a slur against blacks because of the almost black color of an eggplant.

The word Melanzane (or Melanzana) derives from the words Mela Insana, meaning "noxious apple". It is often pronounced "Moolinyan" and written as such.

"Don't come around here no more you f*cking Melanzane (pronounced moolinyan) or I'll kill you." says Italian mobster Francis LoCascio to a black drug dealer.

"F*ckin' Moolinyan, black son of a bitch! Get the f*ck back to Jamaica." says Italian mobster Vito Satrianicchi to black hustler.

In the HBO show, "The Sopranos," the word "mulanyan/s" is frequently used as a racist or deragotary term for African Americans.

In the show, Tony Soprano is infuriated by his daughter Meadow, when he finds out she is dating a boy from a mixed-race (African American and Jewish) family. He tells his therapist that neither one of his sisters would have ever brought a "mulanyan" home when they were growing up.

There are many other references to the term throughout the show, always used by members of the mob but never by other characters. This is an indication of the Mafia's racist mentality.

Melanya is an amazing person to be around. Though she may not seem like the best person at times she means well. Melanya is a funny free spirited soul that loves cuddles. She’s adventurous and down to do knew things like cliff diving and jumping out of airplanes. She’s pretty honest about most things and admits to her mistakes. Some down sides are Melanya is bad at giving advice, but is there to listen whenever her friends are in need. She is a pretty lonely person that needs people to surround at all times bc she gets bored easily. She loves to bake. She likes being out in nature, but not all of the time. Melanya is a pretty good person when you get to know her. I’m not talking you think you know her. I’m talking you actually know her.
