A common instance that occurs when a progressive beats a Democrat in the Democratic primary, they'll try to sabotage their run in the general, either by smearing or running third party against the progressive to split the vote. Exact opposite of vote blue no matter who.

Me : did you hear they are trying to Mamdani James Talarico in Texas?

Them: no, how?

Me: they are spreading around heresy that he called Alred a mediocre black man, when in truth he was saying Alred is a mediocre campaigner.

Them: ah, that's the Mamdani effect, the DNC must be scared that James will actually win.
