leecher

It refers to the act of giving yet providing nothing of substance in return, as it is named after the parasitic organism a leech.

Leecher can be applied practially to peer to peer file sharing protocols, or networks (Bittorrent, Kazza Fast Track, Gnutella}, in which the leecher consumes bandwidth by downloading, yet has no will to upload or give back to a community.

Particularly in Bittorrent, leechers are not actually increasing their performance, but possibly are decreasing it.

I know a leecher who in order to acheive maximum network thourough-output restricts uploading while bittorrenting.

Mom's leecher

Some kid (in some cases teenager) who asks his mother for money every 10 minutes to buy something really stupid (Cash for MMORPGS or videogames or candies and shit)

Party Leecher

Someone you don't want to come to your party and purposely don't invite, but that you also don't want to tell they can't come. That person finds out about your party through the grape vine and invites themselves and does inevitably show up. The chance of the party being ruined is also significantly increased by this persons presence.

The Party Leecher calls you a few days or a week before your party to talk about something and then before hanging up says, "So I heard from (insert any name)'s brother that you are having a party. What should I bring?" You've just been, Party Leeched.

Aubs: "The fuck is that faggot doing here? He ruined the party." Jay: "I didn't invite him, he found out from someone else. And I can't tell him he can't come." Aubs: "Classic Party Leecher."

leecher

A leecher is a person on some type of internet community (torrent, forums, ect.) who downloads as they please and never contributes back to that community. Often characterized by low post counts or having nothing in their shared folder. Leechers steal a network's bandwidth with downloads and potentially can cause it to lag. Derived (obviously) from the parasite with many similarities to a Leecher.

leeching is especially harmfull to the bittorrent network (sucking all the bandwith away)
