There’s two types: one for stealing which potentially comes from “hijacking” but can also be attached to the second meaning, which means to lay claim to, which in essence if you “claim” something that isn’t yours you’re jackin lol. So they are interchangeable, but the latter can be affixed to anything, while the former is more restricted.

Urban = African American Slang
First meaning: He jacks his brother’s shoes all the time. He needs to stop jackin’ people’s stuff

Second meaning: You don’t know shit, so you need to back off jackin info you don’t know anything about.
