To unwontedly and incorrectly answer a question asked by a fellow student before the trained professional has a chance to speak. This explanation consists of a knowledge dump, relevant to the course but nothing related to the question.

Student 1: Excuse me sir, what would the implications of a tariff be on an economy?
Teacher: Excellent question, firstly you mu-

Student 2: So basically it all comes back to the supply and demand theory...
Student 1: Stop ham-splaining
Teacher: AS I WAS SAYING. It comes dow-

The common practice of amateur radio operators of answering a question which was not asked, using as many irrelevant facts as possible, some of which may be correct.

If you want to hamsplain properly, you begin by citing your accomplishments, and end with a homework assignment.

Stating inaccurate facts about China. Conveniently repeating Chinese Communist Party propaganda worldview. They can be often located in their ideological bubble on Weibo (Twitter copy) or other CCP run social media pages, in rare cases you can meet them in the wild in Mass Media comment sections as well as Facebook and Twitter comments.
Their meeting and support group has its western HQ on r/Sino where they're sharing the newest fake news, CCP propaganda and secretly plotting on how to take over the world, just to miserably fail every time like Pinky and the Brain.

Any rational person: "China is running concentration camps and they're rounding up millions of Uighur's, it's coming close to a genocide"

Lin starting his hansplaining: "no ,no . is no like it, you just don't understand Chainer, is vocational camps with Chinese characteristics" and continues to hansplain how forcing Muslims to burn their holy books, drinking alcohol and eating pork is a good thing to fight alleged terror.

1. When you use a reference from the musical #Hamilton to explain a situation or concept to someone.

2. Also using Hamilton allegories in an overly frequent manner, so much so that your friends see it coming.

1. I know you're sad you weren't picked to start on Saturday's basketball game. That's the same way Hamilton felt when he kept asking Washington to let him have troops to command, and Washington kept saying "No".

2. Your friend is doing homework, and asks: " Does anyone have a good example of famous friends that were very competitive ?"

Other friend: "Oh boy, John's going to be Hamsplaining this one to him."

When a person of Han Chinese ethnicity in Taiwan or China explains (something) to a non-Chinese, in a manner regarded as condescending or patronizing.
