Girl Interrupted Syndrome is the phenomenon of an angsty teen believing they are so incredibly unique and different, they find their depression to be cinematic in a
"starving artist" way and believe it makes them an interesting, nonchalant, effortless cool girl. Those who suffer from Girl Interrupted Syndrome may find themselves engaging in the listening of Fiona Apple, Duster, and Have a Nice Life while also attempting to pick up any hobby or new interest that will make them seem so esoteric and Manic Pixie Dream Girl -esque. Girl Interrupted Syndrome victims may find themselves to be infatuated with the arts and chase after people who are the same as them. The constant attempt to be so different may also lead to those with this syndrome to participate in cigarette smoking, accentuating their eye bags using eyeshadow, only using 35mm film for pictures, and desperately trying to appear quiet and mysterious. They are also mostly self-righteous philosophy freaks who find themself to be more well-rounded than everyone around them.

they probably listen to fiona apple, lana del rey, or someone else who perfectly captures their sadness.
they possibly enjoy things like vinyls, films (and calling movies films) like girl, interrupted (hence the name), lolita, gone girl, and others.

they may partake in self destructive behavior like smoking cigarettes, drinking, etc.
so really at the core of a person with girl interrupted syndrome, it’s probably just mental illness.

A person (typically female) who is a self-acclaimed intellectual and philosophy freak. Nevertheless, she is an effortless cool girl, quiet, mysterious, and alluring. She may seem like the perfect girl at first glance, shockingly beautiful and incredibly different, however, she will leave you broken-hearted In the end. Those who suffer from this syndrome usually partake in distinct activities such as, cigarette smoking, listening to grunge music, reading 18th-century pretentious novels, and drinking plenty of vodka.

At the core of the syndrome is mental illness. Girls who have this syndrome are beautiful and alluring but cold and arrogant.

Max: She's just so alluring and different. I asked her what she was listening to on her headphones while she smoked her cig and she said The Smiths.
