Footeloose!

(foot-loos)

1. A drinking game played while watching 'The Civil War' by Ken Burns. Its name comes from Shelby Foote, a novelist interviewed almost ninety times throughout the series, accounting for almost one full hour of the series. Each time he shows up to share a story about some haunted owl or "strange" Southerner, knock back a shot of your favorite Tennessee whiskey and await his inevitable return.

Footloose bad

Old Gen-X adjective to describe a quality of music that makes it sound like something from the soundtrack of the movie "Footloose."

Distinguishing features are keyboard whitewashes, fist-pumpingly over-the-top vocals in the chorus, and unmanly bouncing rythyms. In other words, sounding '80s in the bad way.
(When Dan Hill's "I can dream about you" comes on the radio...)

"Oh, man, that's bad! It's... like... Footloose bad!"

West Midlands slang word for rockers, bikers, greasers etc. In the late 1980s it was used by the UK music press to refer to a specific scene centered around the bands Pop Will Eat Itself and Crazyhead. The term never found favour with readers of 'the inkies' (Sounds, Melody Maker and the still extant NME) and was soon dropped. Now often used in predominantly working-class areas of the midlands and the north to mean someone who listens to rock-derived music and/or dresses in a manner that suggests they affiliate themselves with rock music of some kind.
