(Chih-gun) – A colloquial term originating in
Western Pennsylvania primarily used to describe any form of animal product commonly (but not exclusively) used for human
consumption. Often accompanied by a modifier such as: forest-chiggan (turkey), muddy-chiggan (pig), field-chiggan (cow), sweater-chiggan (sheep), city-chiggan (pigeon), etc.
Example 1
Person A: Hey,
what are we having for dinner tonight?
Person B:
I don't know, we could always cook up some chiggans from the freezer downstairs.
Example 2
Person A: Whoa, did you leave these raw chiggans
in the sink all night?
Person B: Oh, sorry... Those must be some yucky chiggans by now!
