Carterville Illinois 

White trash capital of the Illinois Ozarks. Largest consumer of fentanyl and oxycodone in the region. Largest producer of methamphetamine. Wear realtree camouflage to show your fashion sense. Pay Northern Illinois taxes for Appalachian hillbilly culture and disadvantages. Pretty good values in mobile home sites (even for double wides). Some great banjo venues.

A small town that thinks it's a city. Residents tend to talk big and do nothing. The few usefull people of the area are made to carry the weight of the ignorant majority.

Carterville High School 

A small school comprising of the towns of Carterville, Crainville, and Cambria, Illinois. The school has a population of 550, but is growing. The colors are orange and navy blue and the mascot is the lion. Football is the primary sport in Carterville as the school board built a multi-million dollar football field, with artificial turf. A powerhouse in the CBC, CHS is moving to the bigger River-to-river Conference. With academics a priority, the school has some of the best test scores in the state. The students take vast pride in their teams and are led by Captain Carterville, the unofficial mascot. The band is one of the better ones in the region, known for their powerful brass and drumline. Although the current building is close to 100 years old, the district is moving to a brand-new, 750 student high school in 2012. Known for its rich academic and athletic background, CHS is the premeire high school in Southern Illinois.

Carterville High School is in class above the rest in Southern Illinois.

(Carterville, IL): A very "special" school filled mostly with developmentally disabled students. Graduates fill the played out coal mines of Southern Illinois, the rolls of the disabled (SSI) and the Illinois state Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and General Assistance (GA) rolls. Standards(?) Mainline to US Penitentiary Marion, IL.

Captain Carterville

The unofficial mascot of Carterville High School (IL). Formed in 2009 by a CHS band senior, Captain Carterville is the face of Lion pride. The figure is a student who is qualified in a few main areas: 1. Team Spirit 2.No shame 3. Sportsmanship 4. Craziness The student usually a member of the band or student section leads the morale at all home and playoff games for football and basketball. Captain Carterville has been known to do the unexpected such as dance wildly and randomly, stand in the opposing team's section, and do crazy cheers with the band/cheer leaders/student section. Now a tradition at CHS, Captain Carterville will remain the figure of Lions' sports.
