The city has 23 beautiful beaches and an extremely active nightlife especially in the winter and summer vacations where clubs and bars stay open till the early morning while being frequented by affluent individuals. Buzios was once noted to be the city with the most beautiful women per square meter during its high seasons by a popular Brazilian magazine. Its population is about 25,000 as of 2007, however it goes up to 350,000 during it's high seasons.
