Breedism

Breedism is to judge a dog based on its breed and not on it's own history, behavior, or personality. Breedism is equal to racism, just people to animals and not people to people. Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) is a form of Breedism in our own Government.

Breedism is to look upon a dog and say it is dangerous because of what it is. Until you actually see it be dangerous or aggressive is to judge without right. Same as saying because someone is of a certain race they fall into a specific category. Such as they are illegal, lazy, stupid, or dangerous because of their race and not who they are.

Breedism

It's what pit bull advocates say when someone says pit bulls attack or kill people. They think breedism is like racism or a stereotype but don't realize that breeds of dog were created to perform certain tasks so some breeds do things better than other breeds. For example greyhounds will always run faster than chihuahuas because greyhounds were bred to be better runners than all other breeds of dog. Saying a greyhound runs fast or a pit bull kills would be considered breedism by their definition.

Racism does not only apply to humans. Dogs, especially Pit Bulls, are stereotyped just like humans. This breedism can be severe and effects both the dogs and their owners.
