:P is quite possibly one of the most clean and innocent emoticons to ever exist. You ideally would add this towards the end of your sentence to convey a sense of playfulness and lightheartedness, especially when the things you've said can come off as a bit inappropriate/insensitive if interpreted the wrong way.

NOTE: this text-based emoticon CANNOT be substituted for the emoji equivalent of a tongue sticking out (especially not the standalone tongue, dear god no).

Guy classmate: Ugh I'm so thirsty :P
