Honeymoon

The word "honeymoon" first appeared in English in the 1500s. The first citation of the word appeared in a 1552 glossary printed in England, called Abcedarium Anglico Latinum.

"Honeymoon" is derived from the ancient Germanic custom of having newly-weds drink mead (the 'drink of love') for a whole moon (month) in order to encourage fertility, and a male child in particular.

The history of mead has roots in royalty, religion, sex, and violence throughout the ages of time and cultures of the world. Mead is almost certainly the oldest alcoholic beverage known to man and likely discovered before the wheel was invented.

Mead has for centuries been renowned as an aphrodisiac, and mead's real claim to fame is in its origins in wedding celebrations, hence the word "honeymoon."

Mead was traditionally drunk during the month-long celebrations following weddings to insure fertility and the birth of sons. Some customs sent the bride to bed and then filled the bridegroom with mead until he could no longer stand. He was then delivered to the bride's bedside to sire a son that very night. If, per chance, the bride did, in fact, bear a son nine months later, the maker of the mead was complimented on its quality.
Jason: How was your honeymoon, Jack?
Jack: Super! Drank lots of honey and made passionate love to Jill for a full month. She is now pregnant with our first baby boy.

honeymoon period

The three-month maximum period between a person's entry into a new situation and a person's complete screwing up of said situation or essential elements of it. This phenomenon is backed by massive amounts of studies in social psychology and even more massive amounts of personal testimony from bitter, angry people.
Susannah just broke down and gave her new roommate specific instructions on where she would prefer her to travel on her next vacation. That honeymoon period is over.

Honeybodied

The act of drinking hot chocolate mixed with honey. The idea behind this is that the hot cocoa plus the warm honey heats up the body. This is done by Opal Crankshaft in the winter when she's cold. And she also does it to her ex-husband, Earl.
Opal: Hey sweetie, I feel like some coco. You want to get honeybodied?

Ed: What are you talking about? I've never heard of that.

Opal: Well, it works this way: (mixing the coco with the honey) see, they're both hot and the heat warms up the body.

Ralph M.: Hey Ed, what's going on? What's that drink?

Ed: You want some? We're getting honeybodied here.

Ralph D.: Count me in, too. I'm so cold and stiff from that workout I had today. June nearly drove me crazy!

Opal: Well, here y'all. Have some of this stuff. Its guaranteed; you'll be honeybodied in no time!
