THE best band on earth, with the best song in the world, "Fade To Black". Formed in 1981 by drummer lars ulrich, Metallica released their first album, "Kill 'Em All" in 1983, followed by "Ride the Lightning" ("Fade to Black"'s album) the greatest album in the history of the earth, in 1984. Tragically, in 1986 Cliff Burton died shortly after recording "Master of Puppets". Burton was replaced by bassist Jason Newsted. Although no one could replace Cliff Burton, the show must go on. If you don't believe me, just listen to his bass solo "(Anesthesia)--Pulling Teeth). Newsted's First Record with metallica was "Garage Days Re-Revisited", An EP with five songs. In 1988, they released "...And Justice For All", with their most popular thrash song, "One". Sadly, three years later, Metallica sold out with "Metallica" a.k.a. "Black Album". It was a decent album, but it had a mainstream sound and was twice as popular as any other Metallica album, causing Metallica fans to be also labeled as Daniel Powter fans, and The Fray fans.
I'd say more up there, but i ran out of space. So, to sum it all up, Metallica is better than megadeth, suck now but have the occasional good song, *coughstonecoldcrazycough*, and need to be good again.

A band that took a long time to really hit their stride. Known for their awesome albums ReLoad and StAnger, they came to prominence following these <S>turds</S> awesome albums.
Asshole 1: "Man, Ride the Lightening, Kill 'Em All, and Master of Puppets are nice and all, but I want something with a less technical and less aggressive sound, I'm sick of having my face shredded off"
Asshole 2: "Oh! Give the metallica album, St. Anger, a listen."
Asshole 1: "Fuck my life"

A great band, but wouldnt be so good if they hadnt had Dave Mustaine as their first lead guitarist, Dave Mustaine wrote the good half of their debut album Kill em all, songs like The Four Horsemen(originally named Mechanix), Phantom Lord, Metal Militia etc was originally wrote by Dave and then "stolen" by Metallica after they kicked him out of the band, you can even hear from different songs by Megadeth sounds alot like said songs. Mechanix can be found on Megadeths album killing is my business....

A very great band, who's style ranges from rock to heavy/trash metal.
Anyone who hates them generally is a ''cool'' kid because he listens to Lil Wayne or Jonas Brothers and other shit like that.
People who want to look like they like Metallica will say they like 4 songs: Master Of Puppet, One, Enter Sandman and The Day That Never Comes (if they are even able to remember these names). They are just fucking posers. These song are good, true, but it's the only ones they know.
Peope who actually like Metallica will be able to name other songs than the 4 above, and they will be able to name some albums too.
People who think Metallica is the best band ever (like me) will be able to name you some (or all) of the band members (former and present), name which album X song is on, and have an opinion whether the older Metallica (Ride The Lightning, ...And Justice For All, Kill 'Em All, etc.), the mid Metallica (Load, ReLoad and Metallica (commonly called the ''Black Album)) or the newer Metallica (St. Anger and Death Magnetic) is the best.

''Cool'' kid: Metallica sucks balls Lil Wayne is da shiz.
Me: Dude, you can't compare Metallica and Lil Wayne, that's 2 different styles of music...
''Cool'' kid: YOUR MOM IS 2 DIFFERENT STYLES OF MUSIC! OOOOOOOOH!!! *all his friend cheer him*
Me: ...What?
Me: Dude Death Magnetic is Metallica's best album ever.
My friend: No way Kill 'Em All kicks ass!
My other friend: Guys, guys, guys... ReLoad is the best.
*all 3 of us start telling why our choice is best*

Probably the single greatest, and most successful, Metal band in the history of music. Known for amazing guitar solos, awesome vocals and general awesomeosity. Is Metallica coming to town? You better get on the internet/phone/smoke signals as fast as possible, because tickets sold out yesterday. No matter what day it is. they could have a concert scheduled for your hometown in fifteen years, and guaranteed, there's probably only one ticket left. And it's $666. Of course.
