Stetson-Harrison method 

A general method for estimating various numerical values. The values are pulled out of a hat (Stetson), i.e. made up. The purpose of Harrison is to increase credibility.

As a generalization, things other than numbers can also be estimated using the Stetson-Harrison method.

Our group did not have any experience or competence in determining a suitable scope for the project, so an estimate for the scope was produced using the Stetson-Harrison method.

Filling Up the Stetson

Urinating in an open container while riding in a moving car. The phrase originated in 1835, when settlers riding the Oregon Trail were forced to relieve themselves in a large Stetson hat, to avoid stopping their wagons for fear of Indian attacks.

Stetson 

Stetson is one of the greatest guys you'll ever meet. He's kind and caring and will always be there when you need a friend. He's a total flirt and will do anything to make anyone happy. He's a great baseball player and has goals for his life! He will do anything for his girl, anything to make her smile. He's respectful and works hard. A lot of girls try to be with him but he can't help that he's such an amazing person... he's humble and loving and super smart!
