when western people want to explain situations and issues Eastern Europe in ways that either ignore voices from the region, treating it as object, not subject of the history. Applying their perspectives, while ignoring what these countries and people actually lived through.
Not to be confused with Womsplaning or Femsplaning (Which is just Mansplaning from a woman’s perspective)...
Womplaning is when a woman complains online and expects only validation as a response instead of a proposed solution.
If a solution is proposed, it will be responded to with an accusation of Mansplaning, whether or not the responder is a man.
Woman: Do men know how many times we rewrite tweets to make SURE it doesn't look like we're asking for advice?
Responder: Um, are you asking for advice on how to solve that problem?
Woman: No! Not interested in your Mansplaning!
Responder: Then, you want an answer to the question do men know how many times you rewrite tweets to make SURE it doesn't look like you’re asking for advice?
Term coined by Slavs and Ukrainians on social media to criticize political analysis done by "Westerners" - people who live in the Americas and Europe in general.
"Jonathan started westplaining to a Serbian why NATO bombed his town after reading a few articles on Wikipedia."
"John Mearsheimer westplained in the New Yorker why Russia had to invade Ukraine"
Also LAsplaining. When someone in the film industry who is not satisfied with their career trajectory in Los Angeles relocates to another production hub, usually Atlanta, and starts telling people with more experience and credits that they are doing it wrong.
Some actress, whose only credits on IMDb after "seven years working in L.A." is a self-produced web series, is on Atlanta Film Community LaSplaining about actormarketing.
