A TV news term, an acronym that stands for "voiceover/sound on tape." This is a story in which the news anchor reads copy while video plays, and then a short soundbite plays while the anchor stops reading, and then the anchor reads the end of the story. Also spelled vo/sot or vo/b for "voiceover/bite."

Stands for "Version Originale Sous-Titrée en FRançais" which means "original version (i.e. not dubbed) with French subtitles".
Often added to video file names.
Sometimes you can also see "VOSTFrench", probably to make it clearer for non-Frenchmen.
Just "VOST" can also be used if it's clear that they're French subtitles (and not for example English subtitles which would be "VOSTA": "Version Originale Sous-Titrée en Anglais").
In French movie theaters usually only "VO" (original version) is written to say that the movie isn't dubbed, since it's obvious that there are French subtitles. This is opposed to movies in "VF" ("version française", French version) which are dubbed.

Get the VOSTFR mug.Being a vootard or vootarding describes the practice of acting like a retard on purpose, just for the simple fact of entertainment and self-amusement. Even though it is often about self-amusement, it is commonly done in a group of people, to share the amusement. Vootarding mostly takes place on the internet e.g. on Discord, Twitter, or any other platform where jokesters and memesters gather. The word's origin stems from a Magic Voodoo Cult centered around fun and jokesters.

Vootie originated in 1955 in a Mad Magazine parody where Dave Garroway's chimp (J. Fred Muggs - who also painted a cover for Mad) takes over the show. Instead of Dave's signoff, "Peace", the monkey said "Vootie". It was later used in 1996 as an exclamation in Star Control 3 by a race called the Xchagger.
