adj. - having characteristics in common with paranoid delusions. The word comes from paranoid people wearing tinfoil hats to keep the aliens from reading their mind, or to keep the Illuminati from using mind control rays on them, etc.

"You have to sign this petition! It's to get Congress to require all envelopes to be self-adhesive. When you lick an envelope flap, the Post Office runs it through a scanner that takes a DNA sample. Then they match that up with your name based on the return address. Homeland Security claims to be keeping the information to know how best to protect Americans from a gene-based terrorist attack, but if the wrong people came into power, they could use it for eugenics and put everyone with a certain chromosome combination into concentration camps! So will you sign the petition?"

tinfoil hat 

Propoganda designed to cover up a massive government conspiracy. Begining in the late 1970's, the United States government tried to cover up its radio-wave thought-control program by circulating a false rumor that people could shield their minds from government intrusion by wearing a tinfoil hat. In truth, a tinfoil hat only improves reception and makes it easier for the government to read your mind. Speak truth to power!

someone so ***out there***, that they wear tinfoil hats-- or perceive messages from their amalgam tooth fillings. its roots are from mental institution paranoia and has progressed to today's contemporary society.

Politically, this may be a derogatory comment towards conspiracy theorists and is akin to birthers and their ilk.

He's a real tinfoiler: he believes those stories that other ethnicities eat fetus baby soup-- just because it is on the 'Net.

She thinks the ants took her sunglasses from the picnic-- she's a tinfoiler.

Tinfoilers believe that the End of Days is nigh, because of who won the election.

Tinfoil Hat 

The "tinfoil hat" is often a way to describe someone who's going crazy, or falling too deep into crazy internet theories. When someone tells you you're putting on a tinfoil hat, it means your going head over heels for a crazy idea.

TinfoilBallism is a religion where your holy doctrine is a massive tinfoil ball named The Bible of tinfoil, your holy figure is a smaller tinfoil ball and his name is Jesus II, and the Tin Spirit is a small piece of tinfoil.
