the phenomenon of running into someone, usually anonymous, who then tries to step to the side, at which point you also step to the same side, repeating over and over until one of you finally darts away.

Aw man, I was at the grocery store and did the awkward dance with some girl. Embarassing.

An event that occurs when one is walking towards someone and both try to get out of each other's way. Instead they end up choosing the same path.

I was walking down the sidewalk and enjoyed The Awkward-Walking Dance with another by-standard.
