The Mervin Scale
A scale derived by the English mathematician and theoretical physicist Professor Ginger Ninja, which allows students using a sheet of A4 graph paper with 1mm squares, herein called 'mervins', to plot awkward, or complex points on a graph that shows the effect of temperature on the resistance of a thermistor. There are five mervins to a 'brick' and two 'bricks' to a 'box'.
Thus, any whole integer is always four mervins away from its next or prior integer; provided that each box on the y-axis is the equivalent to 5kΩ.

a kickass band!
some say that they inspired nirvana and co-invented what later became known as grunge.
in fact kurt cobain was one of their biggest fans in the early days.
they also became popular in the stoner rock / doom metal scene with some of their releases and got respect by the punks for colaborating with jello biafra...anyway, the melvins always keep it experimental so you can't tell what genre they fit into.

Striver
The striver is an interesting phenomenon that is seen across college campuses. In essence, the striver is an over-achiever who comes from a working or middle class family. He may be an immigrant. He may have been a slacker in HS who was "born again" into an academic wunderkind. Or he may just be an over-achiever who is keeping at it.
The striver is willing to sacrifice his social life at the expense of Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude. The striver is the guy who stays at the library long after you are gone.
