A female name, meaning "lily," or true beauty. It is derived from Σουσάννα (Sousanna), the Greek form of the Hebrew Shoshannah, which is derived from the Persian shoshan, or "lily."

When spelled "Susana," it is Portuguese or Spanish.

"Susana" signifies someone who is pure and good, possibly because Susana is figured in the Bible twice. In the New Testament she is a follower of Jesus. In the Old Testament apocrypha, she is an innocent young woman falsely accused of adultery after she refuses to give in to the advances of some elders.
