This term comes from the song How The World Works from Bo Burnham’s comedy special “Inside”, where he wears a sock puppet on his hand named Socko and Socko gives good and intelligent takes on how the world functions.

Person 1: “Did you hear Chad talking about human rights earlier?”
Person 2: “Yeah, he’s based and sockpilled.”
