Shavian is an alternate alphabet for English created by Ronald Kingsley Read, with 48 letters. Each letter has only one sound, compared to typical Latin-script English, which has one E sound in edit, another in curve, a third in lived, and so on. There are no known people who were taught Shavian English before Latin English.
Contrary to popular belief, it is not used by people who suck ass at spelling and retreat like a hermit to Shavian to claim dominance over knowing a script most do not. However, a small yet dedicated group of people use Shavian in their day-to-day and scoff every time they see something in Latin English.
