His looks, actions, way of speaking and one liners make him regarded as one of the best characters in the series by the fans. Having sustained a major injury in Modern Warfare 2, and it reopening in Modern Warfare 3 after falling from a great height, he succumbed to blood loss, resulting in a shocking scene that both struck the players, and Captain Price.
