Macktivism

The act of attending rallies, marches, conferences, or other activist-related events in the hopes of meeting attractive activists. A portmanteau of "to mack" and "activism."

One who participates in macktivism is said to be a "macktivist."
I met the cutest boy at the US Social Forum in Detroit last summer -so glad we decided to get our macktivism on!

The Campus Libertarians never get laid because macktivists just aren't interested.

mactivist

A political activist who uses his/her reputation for activism, organization, and political ideology for the purpose of hitting on people.
A man claiming to be a feminist, making grand declarations about sexism and how he's not a sexist, and then uses this in order to sleep with as many women as possible while sexually commidifying those women is a mactivist.

pat yourself on the backtivism

The brand of political or social activism that involves doing nothing meaningful whatsoever except for completely useless gestures, "discussing the issues" with people who already share your point of view, and flooding Facebook with activism posts.

The whole point of which is simply to make sure everyone else in the world knows how tolerant and great you are and how shitty and tolerant they aren't, while actually not making any difference whatsoever.
That Tiffany girl who is always posting 10 times a day on Facebook about how society is controlled by anti-gay, anti-feminist, anti-immigrant, poverty-hating white guys gets drunk four nights a week on her parent's dime, and sleeps around while skipping half of the classes in her Development Studies major. She's never actually contributed to the betterment of society in any meaningful way. But pat yourself on the backtivism means she still thinks she's a better person than everyone else.

hacktivism

Politically motiviated hacking. Some examples include denial of service attacks against conservative groups, defacement of political websites, malicious software development, and website parodies. Tends to be leftist and has close ties with anarchy.
When the media is taken over by conservative propaganda, citizens can engage in underground hacktivism to fight back.

macktivist

A pseudo-activist who participates in marches and other activities so that he may have access to cute girls who believe in saving the planet. A compounding of "to mack" and "activist." For obvious reasons, this noun has no feminine iteration.
Look at those boys with the "Peace Now" sign -- they ain't nothing but macktivists.

From what I hear, the treasurer of the campus Green Party is a total macktivist.

When an activist uses their reputation/beliefs/idealogy as a platform for hitting on people. Often used to persuade people to have sex with you and/or get them involved in your cause.
An animal rights activist uses a particular cause, perhaps at a benefit or demonstration, as a jumping point for conversation with an attractive (physically, intellectually, or whathaveyou) person of their preferred gender, in an attempt to get in their pants. Or at least their telephone number.

I committed mactivism like woah today, when I hit on that cute bikepunk kid at Foodswings and talked to him about Animal Rights.

Mactivist

Someone who vigorously campaigns for Apple products as if the brand was a political cause or religious sect.
Person A: Why does that guy always walk around from person to person to brag about how cool his iphone/ibook/mac t-shirt is?

Person B: He's a Mactivist... spreading the good word is his life's work.
