The verbal act of cursing someone with harm and misfortune, with or without malice.
Kate kicked David out and told him to "drop dead" but when he was killed in an elevator accident just days later she remembered and regretted her angry malediction.

“Maledictus” is the past participle of the Latin verb “malediciere” (to curse).
