keelah se'lai

A common Quarian phrase, from the video game trilogy Mass Effect, meaning "By the home world I hope to see one day." Exiled from their homeworld, the Quarians (an alien race known for their technological genius) have lived as space-nomads for about three centuries. Like the phrase "peace be with you", the phrase "keelah se'lai" can mean many things. But whether to express surprise, happiness, or frustration - for them to swear on their homeworld is the meaningful expression they have.
to an army waiting to massacre a synthetic race that drove them from their homeworld, although, ha-ha-ha, they claim to be peaceful now, a frustrated soldier says: "The enemy doesn't want to fight you! If you can believe that for just one minute, this war will be over. You have a choice. Please. Keelah Se'lai."

Kevlar Neck Gaiter

A metaphorical badge of loyalty usually referenced as an item of travel gear when visiting a good friend in a tight spot.
“I’m visiting my buddy in the Army next week but he’s stationed at a pretty wild post, you know, murders, kidnappings, war brides, that kind of thing; so, I’ll definitely be packing my Kevlar neck gaiter.”
“Jesus, where’s he stationed, Fallujah?”
“Nah, Fort Bragg.”
One of the sweetest, kindest people you'll ever meet. She's got a wonderful personality! She's the kind of girl that knows just what to say to pick you up when you're down. If you don't have a Keela get one and never let her go!
Keela: Hey you look down. Is everything alright?

You: No girl I'm havin' guy troubles.

Keela: Honey you can just put all that aside and we'll go have ourselves a good time!

You: Yeah! Girl you always know how to make everything better!
