Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (stylized as MARIOKART 8 DELUXE and abbreviated to MK8DX) is a Mario Kart racing game exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. It is the enhanced port (or reboot) version of Mario Kart 8 and was released worldwide on April 28, 2017. It was released in South Korea on December 15, due to the Nintendo Switch being released on December 1 there.

To be in the lead in something or to have a streak of success, only to have your success snatched away from you at the last moment, possibly through unfair or unjust means on the part of the person beating you.
Popularised from the game's frequent result in which a 1st place can be snatched away just before the finish line with a powerup.

Mario Kart Effect
When you are falling behind, or doing poorly in an event, and the greater power or governing force allows you to catch up to the pack. The reverse effect is had on the pack leader.
Derived from Mario Kart -- the Greater Power of Mario Kart inevitably grants the 8th place racer stars and lightnings until he catches up with the pack. On the other side of the coin, the first place racer will receive bananas and green shells until his lead diminishes.

A lighthearted reaction upon receiving disappointing news of some sort. Usually something that isn't a particularly a big deal, esp. when it primarily affects someone else - sort of a mild schadenfreude. Sometimes doubled or tripled, and possibly said in a sing-songy voice for added comedic effect to imitate a muted trumpet, which is how the meme originated.

Surf Dracula Syndrome
A phenomenon in film/television series, most notably streaming series, where the main premise is drawn out to such a point that it takes an entire season or more to get the parts of the series the audience is actually interested in seeing.
For example, if a series is titled "Surf Dracula," a majority of viewers would tune in expecting to see Dracula surfing by the first or second episode. However, the entire first season would instead be tedious padding and backstory before finally ending with Dracula surfing in the last five minutes of the season finale.
