it's also the name of the girl a children's show where they teach people to speak mandarin chinese.
which i find funny because the girl's name is kai lan and that means broccoli in chinese so i'm like "wtf why did her parents name her broccoli?"

mom: it's a girl!

dad: what should we name her?

mom: kai lan!

dad: um... why would we name our child broccoli?
