A slang term for "soft hardware," digital electronic circuits that are programmed into a reconfigurable logic device such as a field-programmable gate array (FPGA).

Guru: Nah, too expensive.

Guru: That won't perform fast enough.
Nuby: Well, what then?
Guru: We do in gelware, of course!

Gems being used in a functional way such as marking a piece of stemware for personal identification in a group or as a necklace to hold eyewear around the neck.
