In colloquial contexts, it may be used as a way to say genius or freak.

An interesting/amazing fact or performance regarding our scaly gill-breathing underwater-inhabiting friends.

I've never heard of an instance of flying fish's forming large "flocks" in the air, but if they did, that would certainly be an amazing finomenon to watch.

I smilingly asked the local church pianist to autograph the cassette-cards of some recordings I'd made of his lovely keyboard-performances; he'd had no idea that his humble playing would be such a fanomenon.

An unusual condition or occurrence dat's good for huge laughs.

When one of Jack Benny's script-writers told his colleague dat he was "thinking it over" regarding what Jack should say next in response to da episode's last-composed line, "Your money or your life", he'd had no idea what a funomenon of "solid gold" comedy-material he had just uttered.
