The act of pretending to text in awkward or uncomfortable situations in order to avoid eye contact and/or conversation.

When she noticed her ex-boyfriend walking towards her at the mall, she pulled out her cell phone and began fauxtexting in order to avoid the utter awkwardness of talking to him.

(n) someone who acts big and bad on texting, but when you get in real life, their scared to say anything to your face.

(v) texting someone and pretending to be someone different than you are.

bob: i swear to God i'll punch you in your face you fat ass mother fucker.

bob: haha, man you know i was just kidding with you :s
tim: god, your such a fauxtexter.
