invigorate

it's that one scene in anime where the enemy's like "this is why ur mom left" and the main character's like *manly somewhat offended/hurt gasp* 'argh...' and then he stands up from his injured position after taking several potentially fatal blows. and then he ARGGHHHH and attacks his enemy with all his might, channeling his anger into his powers
"your parents left because you've never been good enough," said his childhood friend... and current nemesis. his eyes widened & he felt as if he'd been punched in the gut. his shock & hurt immediately turns into anger & he stands up to look his enemy in the eye. "you bastard," he whispers. suddenly, all his anger is channeled into his powers & he releases hell on his opponent.

he was invigorated by his superficial friend's comment.
