e-rage

The type of internet-war between individuals which grows out of quickly-written emails containing statements that may be easily misunderstood or mis-taken by the recepient, and grows through retaliatory responses into massive proportions.

Since email is unable to convey facial-expressions, unable to fully-convey emotive states or the status of the writer (ie tired, sick, depressed), is not interactive face-to-face dialog, and tends to be hastily-written, these misunderstandings via email are frequently based entirely upon mis-communication rather than truthful intent.

Term coined by Louise Doncaster circa 2003.
Person #1 states how they were ripped off by a third-party. Person #2 replies, "oh well that's what you get," meaning that's what you get when you deal with people like the third-party. Person #1 misunderstands the statement to mean that they deserved to be ripped off, or that Person #2 is flipping them off about their upset feelings of being ripped-off.

D/E Ratio

Drama to Earnings Ratio. The amount of personal or professional drama created by a customer, client or business partner divided by the earnings or prospective earnings generated from the relationship. Excessive and unnecessary drama in business relationships create an emotional tax on earnings that transcends the financial statements and negatively impacts all stakeholders in the organization, thus causing a high D/E Ratio.
We have an unbelievably high maintenance client client who calls the office five times a week and disrupts the entire office with special requests, personal problems, false accusations, and emotional outbursts. The fee we charge this client doesn't even come close to covering all the special handling and office distractions. We need to lower the D/E Ratio or dump the client.

e-ratication

A carefully calculated, slow and steady wipeout campaign of a targeted population of rats accomplished by bombarding them with widespread email warnings about the toxicity of their food sources, thereby causing them to starve themselves.
As the well planned mass e-ratication approached, I found myself experiencing a depth of sadness I would have never before anticipated.
