Originally polish for "worthy, proper, or suitable, also the Catholic holiday observed the day after Easter Sunday celebrating the end of Lent.

The word degraded sometime between WWII and Korean conflict to refer to a phallus, evolving to it's current usage referring to someone who is an irritant, stupid, or gullible.
