Get the double downs mug.Originally a term used in the card game blackjack, where a player doubles their original bet in exchange for exactly one additional card; most useful when the remaining deck is offering extremely favorable odds of making a total of twenty-one.
The term is increasingly used as a media euphemism when political figures tell bald-faced lies and when confronted with contradictory statements, the politician not only fails to retract their claims but instead expresses an increased certainty in their truth.

Get the double down mug.A sandwich from KFC consisting of bacon, cheese, and thousand island dressing in between two pieces of chicken (fried or grilled). The sandwich has no bun, and has received extremely large amounts of controversy from various health groups. However, although the sandwich has 1,300 mg of sodium, about half of one's daily value, it does not have as much calories or fat as chicken sandwiches from Burger King or McDonald's. Also surprising, the grilled version of the sandwich actually has 50 mg more sodium than the crispy. Although not the healthiest choice one can make, it is certainly not the worst fast food item one may eat.

Get the Double Down Sandwich mug.A temporary loss of judgment and higher reasoning capability that one may experience immediately after consumption of KFC's double-down sandwich. Initial symptoms may include confusion, euphoria, and slurred speech. These are soon followed by loss of physical coordination and language ability (several patients have been observed to repeatedly utter variations of the phrase "hurr herp derp"). Patients may then enter a trance-like state for prolonged, variable amounts of time. A full recovery is typical within a few hours to a few days, although in some cases lasting brain damage has been reported.
