A dwindling city in northeast Ohio. Though it was once a booming business city (dealing in the steel industry), the mafia and gangs destroyed its every shred of dignity. The city now has much crime, many idiots, and way too many abandoned buildings, but it's not all bad. There are bright, young minds being cultured in the city's schools (as there are some good teachers left there). Youngstown State University (located at center of town) has great programs, including engineering and music. Youngstown Early College, a city high school, gives children with potential the opportunity to earn their high school diplomas and YSU Associate's degrees at the same time (21 were awarded within the first 4 graduating classes, including classes 2008-2011, including 2 earned by 17 yr olds). Plenty of other things in Youngstown are positive, as well.
Some of the main problems in Youngstown stem from budget cuts to the educational system and the city's lack of detectives, which puts a damper in law enforcement. Over all, Youngstown is not a bad place. However, if you EVER go there, know what you're doing and who you're doing it with. Do not get caught up in the projects, ghetto people, or fights. Also, if you go to the east side or bus station, don't wander or trust anyone you don't personally know. If you're waiting for a bus at the station, walk up Fifth Ave. and wait either at Taco Bell, McDonald's, or a bench at YSU, then go down to the bus station when it's time to go.

In one 5-person family from Youngstown, OH, there can be an Ivy-league college student, a crackhead, a whore, an impoverished hard worker, and a determined student who will one day become a doctor.

Once a great Steel producing city, Youngstown has seen pressing times since the collapse of the Steel industry in the late 1970s. It is a hometown without a large economy but has the potential to obtain one. It has many different ethnic backgrounds and many humble beginnings for many successful people. Youngstown has a reputation for crime and corruption in every avenue of social and public affairs. It may be considered one of the most prevalently racist communities that in turn, also has so many cultures to boot. Youngstown has many problems as many American cities do, but it has one thing that most cities don't: Pride. Pride for what? The strength to continue onward no matter what complication befalls the area is what true Pride is. To have the notion that "We have endured" is reason enough to be proud. There is a deep bitterness in many who blame the area for their own shortcomings and the may be accurate in doing so. But Youngstown is a place that forces you to strive for the better or fall by the wayside because there are no other options

Get the Youngstown, Ohio mug.by far the most depressing and hopeless place in america. what once was a bubbling steel/italian/german community has become the growing sesspool of uneducated (and proud to be so) low income, im gonna gets mines, blacks. high crime rate, poverty and young blacks have truely ruined any amount of pride this city once had. because the city lacks any sort of identity its inhabitants have found it fulfilling to try to become the nations most notorious ghetto. congratulations on building such a promising future for your selves. much to be proud of. keep telling yourselves the white man is holding you down... but who is to blame when the white man is gone?

Get the youngstown ohio mug.the ohio city that is by far the most dead and the most uneducated. if you leave there (or in a surounding suburb) you are most likely in a gang, a rascist piece of shit, or someone stuck here trying to get by. the only thing keeping this place even relatively worth living is the music scene that most people are completely unaware of. Youngstown is full of rascist old people who would just love to pinpoint the entire fall of this dead city on the blacks and other minorities.
