TSJCL

Short for the Texas State Junior Classical League, an organization of high school and middle school students focusing on the classical civilizations of Greece and Rome. TSJCL is a chapter of the JCL, the national organization, which itself is a part of the American Classical League.

Individual high schools comprise Areas, which host their own conventions, leading up to a state wide convention lasting 2 days.

Conventions consist of academic categories, art categories, a talent show, a short play competition, athletic competitions, certamen, and overall fun.

TSJCL conventions are filled with superb students from well-known high schools, examples include Health Careers High School, the usual state champions, and Clark High School, the usual second place school.

The members of the TSJCL are a tight community who care deeply about each other and the language of Latin, regardless of sweepstakes results.

Bill: salve! I'm from San Antonio and compete in grammar! Where are you from?
Joe: salve! I'm from Dallas and compete in mottoes! Nice to meet you!
