Status Mess

A person, typically female, who updates his/her status message with a constant stream of emotional drama.

Did you see Jane's last three status messages about her fight with Bill? That girl is a status mess!

A message that can be set on many instant messaging applications which allows the user to tell his or her contacts what is happening, how they are feeling, or anything else they feel their peers should know.

V., status-messaged, status-messaging, status-messages

To talk through status-messages on IM clients. This can be done one-on-one or to a group of people. It is usually used when someone will not "talk" because they are pissed off. Instead, they will status-message to communicate.

Often abbreviated to SM.

away message status

putting a quote from or referencing another person in ones away message, thus giving them status. That way anyone who looks at the away message:
1. thinks to themself, "WOW that Person A must be SO cool/funny because they are in Person B's away message"
2. sees that the person putting up the away message must have liked the comment so much they want all the people on their buddy list to see that they interact with cool/funny people.
please note: away message status (or simply, status as it has come to be called) should not be freely given to just anyone. The recipient's comment must be witty, clever and well-timed. Also, it is acceptable to make comments in hopes of getting status, but one should never beg or ask for status (that is a sign of being desperate)

statusless 

To be used in reference with Facebook, "statusless" is to be thought of in a similar context to speechless.
This is particularly relevant in reference to a serial status-updater - you know there is something HUGE happening if they will log in to update you on the most insignificant information otherwise.

Katy: "Wow, what's going on Jayde? You always have something to say in your status updates?"

Jayde: "Yeah I know, I know... Actually there HAS been something rather huge happen, but it's kind of left me statusless as I can't find the words to say what I mean in a status update!"
