Richard Wagner 

One of the greatest composers of all time who was born in Leipzig in 1813. Mostly known for writing 5-hour long operas, such of those being "Tannhäuser", "Tristan und Isolde", "Lohengrin", "Der fliegende Holländer" and "Der Ring des Nibelungen" tetralogy which includes operas "Das Rheingold", "Die Walküre", "Siegfried" and "Götterdämmerung". Also know for his German nationalistic and antisemitic views, thus being the favorite composer of one globally known Austrian artist. Apart from operas, has some really nice orchestral and piano works.
