also known as Poppy Day, Armistice Day (the event it commemorates) or Veterans Day – is a day to commemorate the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and of civilians in times of war, specifically since the First World War. It is observed on 11 November to recall the end of World War I on that date in 1918. (Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice.)

Holiday in the UK the equivalent of Veterans Day in the US where the elite patriarchy of old people and right wing bigots (The British Legion, right wing tabloids etc) wear poppies and shame young people who choose not to celebrate their holiday.
Me to right wing bigot: You don't give a shit about Transgender Remembrance Day so why should I give a shit about your Remembrance day?

At 11am on Remebrance Day if you're at the supermarket you're supposed to stand there staring like a statue for a whole minute otherwise you might offend someone. (And these are the people that call our generation snowflakes).
