Pretween 

Bullshit word used to describe all sixth-graders. This word is also used to cancel dating and crushes among fifth- and sixth-graders, even though they'd say it's cute if they're any younger.

Girl 1: "I really like John, but Sammy's just so cute."
Boy 1: "But isn't Sammy dating—"
Teacher: "No, you don't like anyone and you aren't dating anyone—you're just pretweens."
Boy 2: "Did you just say pre-TWEEN?"
Girl 2: "She did!"
Boy 3: "But that doesn't exist."

A preteen is someone from ages 9-12
thats it. Thats literally it. No one is talking about stereotypes. A preteen is someone 9-12. The End.

preteen 

The age group that is 10-12 years of age. The people in this age group are stereotyped to TiPpE lyKKE DIIIZZZZZ! OMG!!!! and to like disney channel. They are also stereotyped to be teenage wannabes. I am 10 years old and I will clarify: we are not all like the idiotic nincompoops that are our age group's figureheads. Seriously: I don't wear Abercrombie clothes because they are cool: I wear them because they are comfortable. (And my mom buys them for me.) I have hated disney channel shows since I saw Hannah Montana for the first time. I don't smear makeup all over my face or act/look like a stripper.
So please, ladies and gentleman of the internet. Don't stereotype us. Thank you.

A lot of the definitions have been corrected by actual preteens - but most of them are from 10 years ago - but it needs a modern remake, I am 11 and most of us just talk about the games that we like or talk about school. A lot of us write in good English but there are some who's English is a little behind, for example they make a lot of incorrect spellings, that doesn't mean they fit into the stereotypes, it just means they need help in English.
Some might be hyperactive but that's them and doesn't mean all preteens are hyperactive, I personally don't see a lot of hyperactive people my age.
Some people might try to act hard but most preteens just laugh it off and most of the time they do that once, just remember that not all preteens fit into the stereotype and some are normal people, some might be mature, some might be hyperactive, and that's them.
